Sharon Porter, Ph.D.
With prior experience teaching on the junior high, high school and college level, most of her academic career was spent at Northern Arizona University (NAU) where she ran a nationally competitive team that qualified for and competed in national tournaments in policy, cross-examination, Lincoln-Douglas and Parliamentary Debate. Sharon was active and held positions in a number of professional forensic education organizations including Vice-President of the American Forensic Association, President of Delta Sigma Rho-Tau Kappa Alpha and President of the National Parliamentary Debate Association. Shortly after retirement in 2004 she became a consultant for the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) and in the past eight years has conducted a number of trainings and coordinated both the Coaches and Judges and the Mixed-Team Tracks at IDEA Youth Forums.
Lazar Pop Ivanov
Lazar is a debate trainer from Macedonia, and has been a part of the Youth Forum as a debater, coach and for the past four years now, as a trainer on both the Mixed Team Track as well as on the Coaches and Judges Track. Back in Macedonia he is part of the Youth Educational Forum organization, teaching debate to high school and University students. He studied law and did his Master's in international law and international relations.
Shelby Jo Long-Hammond
Shelby joined the faculty at Rocky Mountain College, Montana in 2006 after finishing her degree in Communication Studies at the University of Montana. Before her Master’s study in Missoula, she graduated from Carroll College with a study abroad trip to Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. Shelby worked as the Parliamentary Debate coach at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. Debate has always been a significant part of her education. She was on the forensics team at Carroll College through their national championship competitive year in 1999 and also participated in debate societies at Trinity College in Dublin. She worked at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon and University of Montana as a debate coach before settling into the Director of Forensics position at Rocky Mountain College.
Josh is based in Southern California with a background predominantly in British Parliamentary where he has been competing, judging and training for over a decade now. Josh was a Worlds Masters Finalist in 2010, the United States National Champion in 2007, and has been the top rated judge from the United States for the three years in a row at the National Championships.
Georgi is the national coordinator for BP debate in Macedonia. He has been involved in debating since 2004, winning the Macedonian National KP Debate Championship in 2006. As a BP debater, he won the Budapest Open 2012 and also broke at IDAS 2011 and is a WUDC EFL quarter-finalist. Working as a debate trainer for the past 7 years, he spent the last 4 years working with the Advanced Debate group in Macedonia. He was the Chief Adjudicator at the 2010 Macedonia Open and has judged and organized numerous tournaments in his home country and internationally. Since 2009, he has been involved with the IDEA Global Youth Forum as a Tabulation Officer.
Manos is one of the Chief Adjudicators for the 2013 IDEA Global Youth Forum in Galway, having previously chaired the final panel for the Karl Popper Debate Championship in 2011. He served on the adjudication core of the European Universities Debating Championship in 2012 and was the Chief Adjudicator for a number of tournaments in Britain and Europe, including the Durham and Manchester IVs in England and the Athens Open and Vienna IVs on the continent. As a debater, he won the Best ESL Speaker trophy at the World Universities Debating Championships and was the winner of the Belgrade, Paris and Sciences Po Opens. Manos is currently the International Programmes Officer for the IDEA UK, the President of the University of London Union Debating Society and the Vice President of the European Debating Council.
Kai is an international trainer from Estonia. At the moment she is working as a Coordinator of international cooperation projects for the Estonian Debating Society. She is also an English teacher and a coach. She has attended IDEA Youth Forum five times – as a debater, twice as a coach, twice as a trainer. She has also been on the selection committee for the past two years. Additionally to her work in Estonia she was a teacher and a debate trainer for half a year in Kathmandu, Nepal. She has also done quite a lot of international Youth Work with several educational projects and SALTO trainings. She has worked as a tab master for the past 4 years. She was also on the WUDC Berlin Tab team.
