IDEA has appointed a new Youth Forum Director, Steven Nolan. His job will be to manage the Global Youth Forum, and to oversee the regional youth forums.

Steven has been involved in debating for over ten years, as a speaker he reached the European University Debating Championships Finals in Koc in 2007, as a judge he has judged the World University Debating Championships EFL Final in Botswana in 2011. He was a DCA at Galway EUDC 2011, and was the Director of Socials for Cork WUDC 2009. He has also coached debating and public speaking all over the world.
Before coming to work for IDEA Steven was the University Programmes and Youth Education Leader at the English-Speaking Union. Prior to that he worked in politics in Ireland, after completing a masters degree in criminal justice at University College Cork.
Speaking about the Global Youth Forum, Steven said, ‘this is a unique and unparalleled opportunity in the debating world. Not only does it teach debating skills to a wide and diverse audience, the mixed team training allows for peer learning and a deeper cross cultural understanding. I am excited to work with the IDEA network to deliver an excellent forum in Ireland in 2013 and beyond that.’
