Youth Forum students hold online practice debates

We're excited to announce that this year we are offering our Global Youth Forum debaters the chance to warm up and practice their skills against other participants online through our Vbates platform in a series of training debates that are taking place in the run-up to the 2013 World Karl Popper Debate Championship.

The format is based on the Karl Popper format and the debates are asynchronous, giving each team the chance to see their opponent's speech and have some time to prepare themselves before uploading their response. You can see an example of a Vbate and read more about the platform.

You can now follow two of the first preparatory Vbates online:

Actively circumventing Internet censorship is a legitimate foreign policy tool

Universities should make all academic work they produce, including scholarly articles, course handbooks and recorded lectures, available to the general public

More Vbates will follow soon - stay tuned!

Team name correction

Great to see such spirited debates already! Fantastic effort all around :)Fun fact: Team Dallaire is named after retired lieutenant-general and celebrated humanitarian Roméo Dallaire, founder of the Child Soldiers initiative;  a global partnership committed to ending the use and recruitment of child soldiers worldwide, through ground-breaking research, advocacy, and security-sector training. He is currently an active member of the Canadian Senate.

Thank you for the correction

Thank you for the correction and the fact - and looking forward to seeing you in Galway!
